Rick Gilkey has held a joint appointments at Emory University, where he served on the faculty of the Goizueta Business School as Professor in the Practice of
Organization and Management (retiring in 2020), and the School of Medicine, where he continues to serve as a Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Rick is the recipient of the university’s highest teaching honor, the Emory Williams Award and Goizueta Business School’s Mark Adler Teaching Excellent Award. He is also the recipient of the Emory Medical School’s Albert E. Levy Award for outstanding scientific research contribution. Rick served as an Affiliate Professor at HEC Paris, France and Duke Corporate Education.
Rick is co-author of a book on post-merger management entitled Joining Forces: Creating and Managing Successful Mergers and Acquisitions (Prentice-Hall), and he is a contributing author to Organizations on the Couch: Psychoanalytic Approaches to Understanding Organizational Dynamics. Rick has provided consulting and executive education service to a broad array of organizations, including: Alcoa, AT&T, Beirsdorf AG, Bertelsmann Music Group (RCA, Arista Records), Chiron Biocene (Ciba-Geigy), Coca-Cola, General Electric, Home Depot, IBM, iVision Inc. Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Johnson & Johnson, Novartis Pharmaceuticals, , Morgan Stanley, NCR, PWC, The New York Times, Total A.G., Siemens A.G., Suez, SunTrust, United Parcel Service, , and Zurich Financial. In addition, Rick has provided services to numerous non-profit organizations including: CARE, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the United States Department of State, and the United States Department of Defense (IDB) and The Taskforce on Global Health.
